Sámi education conference 2023
The Sámi University of Applied Sciences and the Sámi Parliament in Norway will host an international conference to share experiences and present pedagogical ways of thinking and professionalism in education and research. Sharing experiences and exchanging knowledge can contribute to the development of pedagogical ways of thinking and teaching in Sámi kindergarten, elementary and secondary school and higher education.
The themes of the conference include the following:
-
The frames of Sámi education, laws, guidelines and curricula that direct and guide Sámi teaching in kindergarten, elementary and secondary school and higher education, for example, according to assessment and grading, how to conduct assessments that strengthen learning and how to ensure that assessments and grades are equivalent
-
The Sámi teaching profession and Sámi everyday life and teaching in kindergarten, elementary and secondary school and higher education
-
Research and development work beneficial for Sámi teaching practices in kindergarten and elementary and secondary school and higher education
We warmly welcome educators, teachers, principals, researchers and students to share their teaching and research practices as well as to submit a proposal for a presentation. The Conference Organising Committee will review all abstracts. The committee will allocate abstracts to the programme. Ten of the kindergarten teachers and schoolteachers who give presentations will not need to pay conference fees. The committee will review the applicants of potential presenters and inform the presenters of their acceptance before registration is closed.
