The Data Protection Officer shall:

• inform and advise Sámi allaskuvla, in matters where the institution acts as the data controller, and employees who carry out processing activities, of their obligations under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (EU 2016/679) and other relevant data protection legislation
• monitor compliance with the GDPR, other relevant data protection legislation, and the institution’s internal data protection policies, including the allocation of responsibilities, awareness-raising measures, training of staff involved in processing activities, and related audits
• upon request, provide advice regarding Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs*) and monitor their implementation
• cooperate with and act as the contact point for the Norwegian Data Protection Authority

Individuals (e.g. students, employees, and respondents participating in research and/or student projects) whose personal data are processed by the Sámi University of Applied Sciences may contact the Data Protection Officer regarding all questions related to the processing of their personal data and the rights they have under the GDPR.

The Data Protection Officer is bound by a duty of confidentiality and is obligated to prevent unauthorized access to or disclosure of information concerning an individual’s personal circumstances and other confidential information obtained in connection with the performance of their duties.
